A New Venture into Something Different
I have always written. I have half filled books going back 35 yrs scattered about the place. I think with new ways of sharing, it was time to make it a bit more formal and sharable. So here goes.
More Recently Camera Phones Taken Over
I have also enjoyed photography. Also many boxes of photos - yes, remember them - scattered about the place. Now files stored in a cloud somewhere. Will we ever go and look at them the way we used to get out a photo album? I do miss having a physical photo in my hand. Maybe writing is like old style photos compared to modern files on a computer. It slows you down. It would be easy to talk a video or audio file, but sitting down and writing slows my thoughts and I get different ideas. It feels more organic. Like setting up focus, shutter speed and aperture on an old SLR camera, and that’s not including framing the shot. Remember, no preview, no delete button. Until a week or so later when you picked up the photos from the film you dropped off at the chemist and got the packet of photos back. Sometimes the whole lot going straight in the bin! Remember that feeling of opening the envelope, the smell of the photos, the anticipation. That one photo that took your breath away. It worked as you wanted it to.
So Why Now, Why do This?
So I want to write more and I think having somewhere like this to share makes some sort of sense. Why just write and not share? Plenty of reasons. Been doing it for years. But I think it is now time to share. Also it may prompt me to write more. Capture those moments that are usually forgotten quickly. The way the light catches your eye as the wind blows through the trees. A path of grass with flowers that you glance at, does something to you but then you move on. These little moments that are fleeting ,I want to make a bit more permeanant.
Whose in, whose with me?
Who else wants to slow things down and appreciate the little things. Get away from the big stuff for a change, not always, ‘cause seeing the sunrise over a cloud inversion is always going to be pretty special. But there is also something special about finding a little nugget of joy in an unexpected place. Stumbling across the unexpected always brings a smile and warm glow inside. Let’s look for the surprises that await us out there.
So that’s me and what I aim to do. Some blogs might come regularly some might be a bit delayed. I have some previous writing that I might send out here. Who knows, but let me know what you think. It would be nice to get some feedback. Let’s see how things develop. I am also looking forward to discovering new people to follow and enjoy their adventures. So if you see someone getting in a funny position to take a picture of spiders web one cold, damp Autumn morning say Hi, it might be me.
